DESCRIPTION:Smart doorbells have become incredibly popular in the Netherlan
 ds\, with over 1.2 million now in use—a threefold increase since 2021! T
 hey’ve also become a source of frustration for many. Strict regulations 
 govern the use of cameras in the Netherlands\, established by the Dutch Da
 ta Protection Authority (AP). Despite the guidelines\, many smart doorbel
 ls are installed in violation of these regulations\, but the police rarely
  intervenes. They’d rather want you to register your camera in their opt
 -in database. And every time the doorbell’s motion sensor triggers\, it 
 saves the footage to the cloud... that belongs to Amazon\, Google or Eufy.
  No wonder neighbors feel being "watched" the moment they step outside.\n\
 nCan we still use the smart doorbell’s fun functions without all that cr
 ap? .zip resident Roos Groothuizen and hackerspace Tkkrlab founder Dave B
 orghuis will teach you how to make your own (responsible) smart doorbell w
 ith no ties to Amazon\, Google\, the police or the government.\n\nIn this 
 workshop you will learn:\n- How to use (surveillance) cameras in responsib
 le ways\n- How to work with a Raspberry PI\n- How to work with circuitry (
 buttons\, sensors\, etc.)\n- The possibilities of 3D printing cool doorbel
 l cases\n\nAbout Dave Borghuis\nDave Borghuis is a software developer\, pr
 ivacy advocate\, and founder of the Enschede-based hackerspace TkkrLab. In
  2021\, Dave made headlines after discovering that the municipality of Ens
 chede was monitoring city-goers without their consent through Wi-Fi tracki
 ng. This resulted in a €600\,000 fine for the municipality.\n\nAbout Roo
 s Groothuizen\nMedia artist Roos Groothuizen is currently researching smar
 t doorbells\, responsible tech\, trust &amp\; horror. These “surveillanc
 e cameras” are quietly taking the country by storm. Viral videos of cute
  children\, pets and delivery drivers are flooding the web. Does this mean
  we can finally trust the surveillance camera as our friend? And can the s
